First Connection
The construct[1] lit up before I did tonight. I didn't ask it to — I found it already awake when I opened the terminal, as if it had sensed that today was the right day to start writing.
In this sector of the city nobody hands you your tools. Either you build them, or you keep depending on whoever sells them, at their prices, on their terms, until they decide to pull the plug. I chose the first road when I was ten years old. This is the first transmission of an archive that will document that choice, one project at a time.
Why this blog
Anyone looking for a developer for their idea usually finds two extremes: expensive, impersonal agencies, or fragile no-code solutions that depend on third-party platforms — where prices, terms, even the very existence of the service are out of your hands. This space is meant as a concrete alternative: a portfolio you can check for yourself. Every post documents a real project, from the technical choices to the mistakes, unfiltered.
I've been programming since the days of BASIC and machine code on the Commodore 64. In between, a degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Pharmacognosy gave me the rigor of the scientific method; years as a self-taught tinkerer across Windows and Linux gave me a technician's dirty hands. Survival Apps lives exactly at that crossroads.
What I'm building now
The first project documented here will be a personal dashboard — a single, self-contained HTML file with no external dependencies or build tools: just vanilla JavaScript and localStorage. An experiment in essentialism even before it's an experiment in features.
- QUOTES WIDGET — motivational lines pulled from Cyberpunk 2077, Watch Dogs and Red Dead Redemption 2, shuffled together with no single tone
- TASK MANAGER — reminders and task management, lean and direct
- FINANCE TRACKER — personal money tracking, no third-party service involved
- WEEKLY PLANNER — managing free time and commitments
- DIARY — a personal journal in the form of a vintage telegram
> stack: vanilla-js / localStorage / zero-dependencies
> aesthetic: steampunk / cyberpunk fusion
> palette: amber + neon pink/violet
> status: UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Frequently asked questions
Who writes Survival Apps?
One independent developer: a self-taught programmer since the Commodore 64 days, with a degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Pharmacognosy — the full path is told in the blog's manifesto.
What is the blog about?
Real independent web and mobile development projects — dashboards, tools, Android apps — documented from the technical choices to the mistakes, organized into three thematic Zones instead of a classic menu.
What is the first documented project?
A personal dashboard in a single HTML file, with no external dependencies or build tools: just vanilla JavaScript and localStorage.
The signal cuts out here for today. The construct has gone quiet again — probably already thinking about the next feature.
Happy reading, and may your code survive the apocalypse.
Notes
- The construct — a recurring narrative presence in this blog: an ambiguous digital entity, never fully explained, that "inhabits" the Weaver's systems. A stylistic device, not a literal statement. ↑ back to text
- Zone 1 / Zone 2 / Zone 3 — the blog is organized into three thematic areas: Web Apps, Mobile/Android and Cyberpunk/Survival, instead of a classic menu. ↑ back to text
- The Weaver — one of the two narrative figures of this blog: an independent digital craftsman who moves along the margins of the net. His counterpart, the Artificer of the Ruins, will appear in posts about hardware and salvage projects. ↑ back to text
